About DrillPortal

We build training software that companies actually want to use. Here's how we got here.

Built by Training People, for Training People

Marcus Thompson spent eight years at Cornerstone OnDemand watching enterprise LMS implementations drag on for months. Lisa Chen designed instructional content for Fortune 500 companies and kept running into the same problem: the platforms were powerful on paper but painful in practice.

They met at an ATD conference in 2020 and spent six months comparing notes. The conclusion was straightforward — most learning platforms are overbuilt for administrators and underbuilt for the people who actually take the courses.

DrillPortal launched in 2021 with a simple premise: make course building fast, make compliance tracking reliable, and make the learner experience good enough that people stop complaining about mandatory training. Five years in, that premise hasn't changed.

Today the team is about 30 people working from Atlanta. We serve over 1,200 companies, from 10-person shops running safety training to mid-market firms managing global compliance programs.
